Designing Effective Cross-Functional Collaboration

Michael Chanover
VP Design, Khan Academy

Objective for this week

  • To understand and apply frameworks for how to build trust in order to foster collaboration in any team or project setting
  • To consider a different perspective on how might we build trust in order to collaborate better cross-functionally?

Trust is the foundation of all relationships and is also the basis of open communication. Trust isn't granted is earned or lost over time.

People want to work for organizations and managers they can trust. An organization has goals, objectives – tasks to perform. But an organization is people…people working together to accomplish organizational and personal goals. These goals are more likely to be met if there is a consistently high level of trust, both inside the organization and with its external partners.
